Abstract
In the history of gaming and esports, esports mice specially built for gaming have gone through
25 years of upgrading. After years of technical polishing, today’s esports mice have become a
must-have product in the hands of gamers. This article will introduce the G502X Gaming
Mouse from Logitech and explain the innovative technology used by G502X Gaming
Mouse and its history.
Introduction
For nearly 30 years, Logitech has been building a bridge for people to digital experiences, and
gaming peripherals have always been their strength. They have an unshakable position in this
market. Among these products, the gaming mouse has always been an innovative product that
Logitech is committed to developing. Their new products can always bring novel experiences to
users. One of the most popular product is the G502 series. The engineering design can be
connected to the player’s computer equipment in two ways: wired and wireless. Compared with
its predecessor, the latest generation G502X ( Figure 1 ) has added function buttons that were not
available before.( MrZac2000, 2023) Players can customize the effects of these function buttons
by using Logitech software. For example, you can reduce your workload by customizing these
buttons, this gaming mouse can also use the macro system to achieve some automated
operations. It can automatically complete a series of batch operations and automatically execute
a series of complex tasks and simplify workload of users. These new designs bring an excellent
experience to users.

Background
Logitech was founded in 1981. (Wikipedia, 2023, para. 3)It is a world-renowned provider of
cloud peripherals originating in Switzerland. It started out as an original equipment manufacturer
(OEM) and now operates in more than 140 countries and regions around the world (Wikipedia,
2023, para. 3). The company operates under the Logitech, Logitech G, Jaybird and Ultimate Ears
brands, and operates in the areas of productivity and creativity, esports gaming, video
collaboration, music and smart home. Logitech implements a multi-brand, multi-category
strategy.. The product business is divided into five segments: keyboard, mouse and other PC
peripheral products category, game category, music category, video conference system and smart
home business. Logitech had the first office in Palo Alto, California in 1982. (Wikipedia, 2023,
para. 4 ) In the same year, the first Logitech mouse, the P4, was released. (Wikipedia, 2023, para.
4 ) The Logitech G1, the first G-series mouse, was released in 2005 ( Figure 3 )was released in
2014. (CDRinfo, 2006.) After many years, the first generation G502 ( Figure 2 ) was released in
2014. ( Walton 2014 ) After receiving good responses from the market , Logitech has continued
to upgrade the G502 since then. The latest generation Logitech G502 X ( Figure 4 ) was released
in 2022. (Knapp, 2023)Compared with G502, the newly released G502x continues the classic
asymmetric ergonomic shape of G502. The size is basically the same and the length and
height are similar, but the new model is slightly wider. There are also slight changes in the
surface texture. The weight is greatly reduced and the counterweight is eliminated. (Knapp,
2023)Secondly, the key has been changed, and a dpi adjustment key has been added, which can
be replaced by a cover plate to prevent misclick. (Knapp, 2023) The biggest change is the feel of
the keys; this time the mouse replaced a new mechanical micro. The feel changed greatly and is a
bit similar to the film keyboard on the mechanical keyboard. The new G502X also received

List of Parts and Functions
Logitech G502X Gaming Mouse is a mouse for gamers. Compared with ordinary mice, G502x
has a more novel appearance and more functions. G502x uses light metal as a whole to make the
overall weight of the mouse lighter than ordinary mice. Secondly, the scroll wheel itself has also
been changed, becoming a lighter alloy scroll wheel with a rubber cover, and uses an
asymmetrical grip design, which is more ergonomic. (Rexosorous,2022) Its physical
specifications: weight 106 grams; height 131.4mm; width 41.1mm,;length 79.2mm (Logitech)
The Y-shaped RGB light line on the top divides the mouse into two parts in appearance.
G502X built-in 8 RGB LED lamp beads can provide 16.8 million color adjustments.(Logitech)
Players can individually set the lighting color of the 8 RGB LED lamp beads according to their
preferences. G502X ( Figure 5 ) has three detachable DPI adjustment buttons that allow players
to change the DPI speed as they like. If you don’t need them, you can completely replace them
with the included blank covers. There are asymmetrical left and right mouse buttons on both
sides. G502X has two customizable function buttons on the left side ( Figure 6 ). Players can use
Logitech’s Special software to DIY these buttons so that they have the functions they want.
(Logitech) There is DPI shift button next to the function button. Close to the thumb ( Figure 7 ),
it has three non-slip pads on the bottom and there is a sensor in the middle of these three anti-slip
mats.

Top View
1. Left Mouse Button
The left mouse button is the main button of the G502X Gaming Mouse. It is
located on the left side of the scroll wheel and adopts an asymmetric design, so it is
more suitable for right-handed players. When pressed, the mouse will receive
information and feedback to the computer to control the actions in the game, such
as shooting and clicking.
2. Right Mouse Button
The right mouse button is located on the right side of the scroll wheel and plays an
auxiliary role. Like the left mouse button, it adopts an asymmetric design. Similarly, when
you press the button, the mouse will receive a signal and feedback to the computer to
control the auxiliary functions in the game(such as aiming, defending, etc).
3. Scroll Wheel
The scroll wheel is located between the left and right mouse buttons. It is made of light iron. It
has Ultra-fast mode and Ratchet mode. Through the scroll wheel, you can achieve a series of
operations such as moving up and down the web page and switching the shortcut bar in the
game. It also has two additional, fully programmable controls by tilting left and right. (D.

4. Scroll Wheel Mode Switch
The scroll wheel mode switch is below the scroll wheel. It is engraved with a circle
pattern. The user can switch between the two modes of the scroll wheel by pressing the
button: Ultra-fast mode and ratchet mode.
5. DPI Mode Switch
The DPI mode switch is located in the middle above the mouse, just below the scroll wheel
mode switch. It has the “G9” pattern written on it and is used to switch the DPI configuration
stored in the software. It can also be customized to have other functions that the user wants.

6. DPI Decreasing Switch
The DPI decreasing switch is located below the DPI increasing switch. Users can reduce the
current DPI speed by pressing the button.
7. DPI Increasing Switch
The DPI increasing switch is located on the left side above the mouse, and users can increase the
current DPI speed by pressing a button.

8. DPI Shift
DPI shift is located on the lower left side and is engraved with a sniper scope pattern. By
pressing the button, you can quickly switch to the DPI configuration reserved by the user
in the software.
9. Custom button 1
Custom button 1 is located below the DPI decreasing switch and to the left of the mouse. It is
used to customize the special functions that users want. By default, it can be used to advance the
web page.
10. Custom button 2
Custom button 2 is located next to custom button 1. It also allows users to customize the
functions the users want. By default, it allows the web page to go back to the previous one.
Bottom View
11. Non-slip Mats
Non-slip mats are located around the bottom of the mouse and are made of non-slip plastic.
They are used to prevent the mouse from slipping sideways.
12. Inductor
The inductor is located in the middle of the bottom of the mouse and is equipped with a HERO
25K gaming sensor with sub-micron precision tracking. (Logitech) It can help users accurately
position the mouse.
Conclusion
In people’s daily lives, they need some entertainment activities to release their depressed
mood. Among these entertainment activities, video games have quietly become the most popular
project among many young people. With the development of science and technology, more and
more people are exposed to electronic products, and electronic games have also begun to develop
rapidly. It is undeniable that electronic games have become a popular industry in today’s society.
And the electronic products used by players to play games are also changing with the times.
More and more computer peripheral brands appeared in the eyes of the public. As one of them,
G502X has successfully changed the user’s gaming experience. Through novel design and
advanced accessories, it greatly enhances the user’s interaction with the game and the built-in
software can simplify the user’s experience.. As an excellent gaming mouse, its production level
is high and its price is not high. It is a gaming mouse that is very suitable for ordinary gamers.
